"Who Else Wants FREE Step-By-Step Fireplace Designs That Show You How To Build A Better Fireplace?"

From The Desk Of: Tim Knotts

Fellow Renovator,

I set this website up because I love all aspects of design, particularly fireplace design. However, I hate the exclusive, snobby attitude that some designers have. Everyone should be able to enjoy beauty and good design. That’s why I want to share my fireplace design knowledge with as many people as possible.

Since you’ve found this website I’m assuming you love beautiful fireplace designs as much as I do. The truth is, I’m always on the internet looking for fireplace ideas and building tips. While doing some research, I stumbled upon a fantastic manuscript by The Majestic Company.

They are one of the most well known and respected fireplace builders of the last century and continue to be a leader in the industry today.

I noticed that most of their work was available online with the exception of one of the most important pieces of work, How To Plan And Build A Better Fireplace’.  Even though it was first published in 1958, this book has the best fireplace design and building information I have ever seen.

In the 23 chapters here’s just a snippet of what you’ll learn:

  • Why you need to plan for appearance
  • The decision making process—traditional or modern
  • How to gain the best heat source possible.
  • Recognise design faults that lead to a non-efficient fireplace
  • Learn how a smoke chamber, flue, smoke shelf, damper and hearth should work
  • The answers to common questions
  • Tips on construction and how to achieve efficient burning

If this is the kind of information that you have been looking for, here’s the good news…

I have contacted the original copyright owners and gained permission to republish The Majestic Company’s complete work on this website. Although I had to pay to have the manuscript reformatted and published online, fireplace design is my passion. Therefore, I want to share this book with as many people as possible for free.

The information is second to none and you’ll soon have a beautiful and efficient fireplace that will be the envy of your house guests.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Cheers and Happy Roasting

Tim Knotts

Thinking About an Outdoor Wood Furnace? Read This First
Traditional outdoor wood burning boilers/furnaces are often substantially dirtier and less efficient than other home heating devices. The smoldering fires and short smokestacks of outdoor furnaces can create heavy smoke close to the ground where people are more likely to inhale the particulate filled smoke. Repeated breathing can result in respiratory problems and the worsening of existing conditions.

Pellet Stoves - A New Way to Heat Up
In the past decade global warming has really begun to catch the eyes of people worldwide. Scientists and researchers have been working countless hours trying to figure out ways we can use resources other than gas, oil, electricity and propane as a means to continue life as we know it. Using pellets to heat our homes is a small step in the fight, but right now is as good of time as ever to make the switch with today's technological advances. Manufacturers have designed some really cool stoves that allow you to control the temperature in your residence without the high electric bill.

A Simple Homemade Solar Heater - Build Cheap DIY Solar Powered Heaters Plan
The evolution of using renewable resources in running modern-day household and industries are now being built and different innovations are already springing out for this new age. Solar energy one of the earth's most abundant but less untapped resources is now gaining popularity especially with the decline of the fossil fuels availability and the rising cost of electricity and energy.

A Simple Homemade Solar Air Heater - Build Cheap DIY Solar Powered Air Conditioning Heaters
The use of solar energy from the sun is one of the ways where depletion of resources (especially that of consumable energy generators such as oil and coal) is lessened and conservation of energy is maximized. Building a solar air heater to heat up a room or a house is one example of the application of solar energy for household use.

Introduction to Electric Fireplaces
Electric fireplaces bring the comfort and classic beauty of wood fireplaces to modern homes. Wood fireplaces can be dangerous, especially with small animals or children in the home. In the past, when the wood burning or coal burning stoves were the only heating option, families would risk the danger out of necessity. Now, in our modern homes, we don't have to worry about burning everything to the ground due to a rogue spark or a too hot coal, but we are also missing out on everything a fireplace can bring to the home.
