You can have them all scanned into a computer system, and you can also have copies (or the originals) stored somewhere else. You should know the chances of your business and the filing company both going up in flames are extremely low.

You might also want to have fire proof filing cabinets in your home. You should make sure they are safe, of course, but most new ones should be. You probably won’t have to have much space for your personal documents, but some like to keep photo albums and other important books in their safe cabinets as well. Just remember that in order for them to be effective you have to use them. My husband has a habit of using our important papers and then leaving them out somewhere. Your cabinet won’t do you much good if your papers and other items are not inside should a fire start.
