"Who Else Wants FREE Step-By-Step Fireplace Designs That Show You How To Build A Better Fireplace?"

From The Desk Of: Tim Knotts

Fellow Renovator,

I set this website up because I love all aspects of design, particularly fireplace design. However, I hate the exclusive, snobby attitude that some designers have. Everyone should be able to enjoy beauty and good design. That’s why I want to share my fireplace design knowledge with as many people as possible.

Since you’ve found this website I’m assuming you love beautiful fireplace designs as much as I do. The truth is, I’m always on the internet looking for fireplace ideas and building tips. While doing some research, I stumbled upon a fantastic manuscript by The Majestic Company.

They are one of the most well known and respected fireplace builders of the last century and continue to be a leader in the industry today.

I noticed that most of their work was available online with the exception of one of the most important pieces of work, How To Plan And Build A Better Fireplace’.  Even though it was first published in 1958, this book has the best fireplace design and building information I have ever seen.

In the 23 chapters here’s just a snippet of what you’ll learn:

  • Why you need to plan for appearance
  • The decision making process—traditional or modern
  • How to gain the best heat source possible.
  • Recognise design faults that lead to a non-efficient fireplace
  • Learn how a smoke chamber, flue, smoke shelf, damper and hearth should work
  • The answers to common questions
  • Tips on construction and how to achieve efficient burning

If this is the kind of information that you have been looking for, here’s the good news…

I have contacted the original copyright owners and gained permission to republish The Majestic Company’s complete work on this website. Although I had to pay to have the manuscript reformatted and published online, fireplace design is my passion. Therefore, I want to share this book with as many people as possible for free.

The information is second to none and you’ll soon have a beautiful and efficient fireplace that will be the envy of your house guests.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Cheers and Happy Roasting

Tim Knotts

How to Survive Without Air Conditioning
In the hot summer months, most people residing indoors prefer some sort of cooling aid which we normally refer to as air conditioning. It makes for comfortable living, work, or social situations when indoors on miserable hot, humid, and sunny days. Some people do better than others when it comes to heat but the fact and matter is without this feature, summer can be a miserable experience.

Solar Cooling - Air Conditioning From the Sun
At first glance, solar cooling looks like an oxymoron. However, the same energy that can provide heat in the wintertime can also provide cooling during the summer. Another idea to harvest the sun...

Warmth in Your Character Home
As the warm summer months fade, the charm and uniqueness of some of today's character homes can fade along with it. This is because many of the older homes have insufficient insulation, especially compared to the recommended norm for today's homes. However recent technology has come up with an efficient way to insulate these homes.

Underfloor Heating - What the Romans Did For Us
Initially the preserve of the rich, underfloor heating became increasingly commonplace in public buildings and villas, particularly in the colder regions of the Roman Empire. What the Romans, and indeed earlier civilisations had discovered, was that this form of floor heating was incredibly efficient.

Pellet Vs Wood Stoves
With rising natural gas prices, many people are turning to more economical ways to heat their homes. Wood stoves are a great way to save money on heating, and even in some cases cooking. Deciding on the qualities of pellet vs wood stoves can be confusing when faced with all of the varieties available.
